DevOps Engineer — Cloud Deployment & Infrastructure Location: Abuja, Nigeria (Remote-friendly) Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: Competitive salary About the Role We are building a comprehensive University Portal & ERP System — a cloud-hosted, microservices-based platform serving students, academic staff, administrators, and management. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to take full ownership of deploying and running this platform on AWS. This is a hands-on role for someone who can work independently, make sound infrastructure decisions on their own, and keep the system reliable, secure, and cost-efficient from day one. What You'll Do Design and deploy our cloud infrastructure on AWS across development, staging, and production environments. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deployment of our frontend, backend microservices, and supporting services. Manage containerized deployments (Docker) and orchestration. Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for application performance, infrastructure health, and security events. Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies. Configure secure networking, SSL/TLS, secrets management, and access control. Manage domains, DNS, and CDN configuration. Monitor and optimize cloud costs — continuously right-size resources and eliminate waste. Maintain clear operational documentation and runbooks. What We're Looking For Proven experience deploying and operating production systems on AWS (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, load balancing, etc.). Strong cost management discipline — you can architect and run infrastructure efficiently and justify spend. Comfortable working solo and owning infrastructure end-to-end with minimal supervision. Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code. Solid understanding of security best practices (secrets, SSL/TLS, networking). Experience with microservices architectures is a strong plus. Good communication and documentation habits. Nice to Have Experience supporting both frontend and backend engineering teams. Familiarity with monitoring stacks (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.). Experience managing third-party services (email delivery, payment gateways, file storage).
